SIGGRAPH proper starts tomorrow. Meanwhile, its day 2 of the co-located conferences Computational Aesthetics (CAe), Sketch Based Interfaces and Modelling (SBIM) and Non-Photorealistic Animation and Rendering (NPAR). Site here: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/conference/cae-sbim-npar-2011/
The NPAR work is probably the most interesting (for me anyway), including a range of work that create NPAR images and video…

Wishing you all a happy (and successful) new year for 2011.
I'm taking a break from working on a project report to write this - my January is looking pretty busy with lectures & labs for a new module to prepare (the previous lecturer retired, leaving nothing in a state that I can use), a research project to get back on track, some other work to write up, and a whole load of exams and coursework coming my way soon for marking... yikes.
December was largely a personal write…

Kieran Nelson said… Hey Daniel,
The job is totally awesome, better than I could have hoped! First title I worked on was the port of the Doctor Who iOS game, we were porting it to Windows 7 Touch for slate/tablet pcs. That was a nice easy introduction because it was built in XNA but it was proper 3D so got a bit more experience using matrices, vector maths and also got to do a bit of work with custom shaders in HLSL.
Currently we're working on Funpark Friends, our next big release for iOS. (It's already been announced and stuff) Should be soft launching nowish so it's all go in the office. It's weird working on a mac but it's written in objective C++ so at least that's a bonus. Learnt lots of crazy useful C++ things like event handlers, server connectivity, shared pointers and all sorts!
Think I'll be on this till I finish in a couple of weeks, would like to be involved in the other projects which are all very cool but I'll settle for having my name in the credits of two actual games :D
I'll give everyone a full report when I get back!
