Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God had repeatedly promised it. Men, women, and angels had long anticipated it. Now, in Jesus, it happens. God is with us. Jesus is Immanuel. We live on a visited planet, touched by the very presence of God among us. And it was just as the prophets of old had said.

My Prayer...

LORD God, my heavenly Father, thank you for keeping your promises, especially when it was so incredibly costly for you to do so. I want to know you better, O God, not just as someone I study, but as someone I encounter in my daily life. Please make your presence known as I seek you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Shurely Shome Mishtake?

I've been talking to too many students recently. Or is it too many staff. Or too many developers. Anyhoo, I've run into an ontological impasse along the lines of: what are we doing here?

This isn't, I hope, a mid-life crisis (a bit late that for me!), but an educator stopping to think, to take some time to stand and stare. And ask: is a university the right place to learn games programming? If it isn't, then that's just tough, cos there aint any other option. And if it isn't, then why… Continue

pre-termism

Next week is lumbering ever closer and threatens to engulf us as usual. Lectures, courseworks, hardware, software, coke machines, paninis, pizzas, crisps (that's enough food!) etc. and another year of cutting code, creating imagery and dreaming of being the next Miyamoto-san.

In one of these infinite numbers of parallel universes there is a UWS where the timetables are entirely correct, registration takes 10 minutes, student card photos are to die for, there is working software on the computers… Continue

New Year coming ...

Summer has been a cumin in, and has now past. A new year heading up and birthday No52 at some stage, unless Jesus returns, the earth burns into flames or my late great aunt Betty in Vancouver leaves me her 1981 $1 Microsoft shares ...

What's the year gonna be like? We have got 40 new top-spec great graphics cards PCs for E113. As someone said: I don't believe it! We also have a bid in for revamping E106 as a studio space kinda like a cross between QWERTYs and the room upstairs from it.
