A Personal Journey: Jenova Chen's Goals for Games

I'm about half way through my interview with Jenova Chen when I get the impression that I've annoyed him. Talking about Thatgamecompany, and the limitations of working with only eight other people, I ask Chen if, given the resources, he'd like to develop a more mainstream game. "Well," he replies, "what is mainstream?" Immediately, I can sense his frustration: Journey, his latest game, has just become the fastest-selling PlayStation Network release ever. The many months ...

Predicting Churn: Data-Mining Your Game

The sad truth about all online services and games? The most significant churn occurs right the first minutes and hours of gameplay. The issue has been already explored in a numerous ways, with many profound hypothesizes related to usability and simplicity of interface, availability of a free trial, learning curve, and tutorial quality. Closing WosGamers.ning.com

My suggestion is still that we simply move to a free established site.  I have been working with the Kiltr people lately and suggest we open a page there.  Its a new site with new possibilities, based in Glasgow, who have good contacts we could all use.  Basically, everyone joins Kiltr.com, we establish a group, we post stuff.  Seems simple enough ...See More

WosGamers Projects Site (wosgamers.co.uk) expiring ...

As you should already be aware, the WosGamers ning site will be replaced by a new site that Daniel Livingstone is working on, as it's not feasible to keep it where it is.Some of you may also remember the WosGamers Projects site that I setup over at wosgamers.co.uk ... well, it seems that nobody is using it, and I don't have the time to support it, so it too will be expiring soon.  Very soon in fact, as the renewal is due on 01/06/2012 and I have cancelled the auto-renew.If anyone has anything…See More
